Why You Don’t Use Cloudflare…

WordPress Art & Science Posted on March 4, 2017 by AdrianMarch 4, 2017

…despite your hosting company telling you to do so. In my previous post (from ages ago because I don’t write things on this blog often enough as I’m busy working on other people’s websites) I wrote about being told by tech support at Bluehost that my client should be using Cloudflare.  I wrote back and pointed out why that wasn’t going to happen. Here is another reason to avoid Cloudflare. … Continue reading →

Is Your Website Using Too Many Resources? Part 1

WordPress Art & Science Posted on May 17, 2016 by AdrianJanuary 26, 2022

Probably not. Maybe.  But probably not. Should you put in a support ticket with your hosting company it’s likely (based on my personal experience) that the very first response they will have is to tell you “you are using too many resources.” Because if the problem is you, not them, they don’t have to do any work. You may ask “What are these resources I’m using too many of?”  Good … Continue reading →

Posting To Social Media From #WordPress Shouldn’t Be This Difficult. But It Is.

WordPress Art & Science Posted on September 7, 2015 by AdrianSeptember 6, 2015

I hate Facebook.  Have I mentioned that? I’ve actually dreamed about deleting my Linkedin account and woken up smiling. Twitter is the only form of social media you’ll ever catch me enjoying. All I want to do is automatically send my WordPress posts to Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin.  I’ve tested multiple plugins and with the exception of Jetpack they have all failed. Get Jetpack here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/ Jetpack Pros: Easy to … Continue reading →

WordPress Art & Science Posted on May 25, 2015 by AdrianOctober 29, 2022

Did you get an email that looks like this? Me too.  So have my clients.  Don’t click the link.  Don’t panic.  It’s just a scam. The first clue that this is a scam is when it says you need to solve your problem of too many directories by creating another directory.  Your hosting company may contact you if you have what they consider to be too many files on the … Continue reading →

WordPress Art & Science Posted on January 22, 2015 by AdrianOctober 29, 2022

A while back (a longish while back) I posted about blocking Seamalt.com from your website.  In the time since there there have been some developments. 0. I noticed that I was spelling “semalt” wrong.  I was typing “seamalt”.  And I’ve got in wrong in this post as well.  That’s bad website building.  People should be able to spell your URL.  Ha! 1. Another spam referral website has come to prominence.  … Continue reading →
